A durable, long-lasting, clean, efficient off-grid power and HVAC system doesn’t have to be noisy or expensive.
Meet the Black Ghost*. A whisper-quiet, efficient ceramic gas turbine engine that will supply kilowatts of heat, cooling, and clean electric power for your off-grid home, small business, boat, RV, or aircraft.
For as little as $8,000.
This is the vision that ThermAero and our partners and friends have been pursuing for over 20 years.
Ceramic turbines and heat exchangers are the enabling components for world-class performance.
We can sell you these components today, for research and development, at affordable prices.
Subsystems and complete engines are the next steps.
Join us, and help make the vision a reality!
There are so many ways you can participate.
Buy components
Ceramic turbine rotors, stators, shaft couplings, and heat exchanger cores are available now.
Invest
We are applying for government R&D funding to build and test the engine and its subsystems. You can accelerate the development work by contributing matching funds, contingent on approval.
Collaborate
University, corporate, and government R&D labs: consider partnering with us to test and document the performance of ceramic engine parts.
Use our consulting expertise to accelerate your projects
Leverage ThermAero’s deep expertise in turbomachinery design, ceramics, and heat exchangers to accelerate your company’s product development.
Cite our publications
We have overcome the major problem that halted R&D investment in ceramic gas turbines, around the year 2000: water vapor induced volatilization and surface recession. How? Engine design, not coatings. Learn about this and other breakthroughs by browsing our library of publications.
License our patents
ThermAero can facilitate licensing the founder’s patents from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, where he ran several R&D programs that and invented several enabling technologies.
The Black Ghost microturbine is named after a fish, the “Black Ghost Knifefish,” an intelligent nocturnal creature that lives in the Amazon river. It generates electric current in its skin to sense prey in complete darkness. The scientific community considers the Black Ghost to be one of the most energy-efficient creatures in the animal kingdom, according to a “top ten” online blog post we ran across years ago. If we can find that article again, or other corroborating evidence, we’ll post a link here.
